Stage Model Of Information Processing

• Stage theory is based on work of Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968)


• Model proposes that information is processed and stored in 3 stages

~ sensory memory ( is affiliated with transduction of energy - change from 1 energy to another

~ short-term memory ( working memory =last 15 to 20 seconds)

~ long -term memory (preconscious and unconscious memory)
